Share Projects Easily... and Securely!

AVAproject has always made it easy to share project files amongst team members or with your vendors. New security features make it possible to do so with complete confidence that your confidential information will remain confidential.

The advent of cloud-based technologies has raised awareness – and concern – for data security like never before. Modern software has made it easier than ever to share information whenever one likes, with whomever they like. With all this exciting new capability comes an unfortunate consequence. Anyone who’s been paying attention to the mainstream business and technology press, knows that there has been a great deal of emphasis placed on security and privacy in recent years. Whether it be unwanted surveillance, hackers having fun, or competitors trying get a peek at your data – the overall concern remains the same; How to make information convenient and accessible, while keeping it safe from unwanted eyes.

In the security trade, it’s generally held that convenience is in direct opposition to security. Put differently, “as convenience increases, security diminishes”. AVAware believes we found the perfect balance; project security in which you can be completely confident, but your co-workers need not even realize is being used! Sound too good to be true? Not for AVAproject 2015.

The latest release of AVAproject features a truly innovative multi-factor security mechanism. Like many other applications, AVAproject allows its files to be encrypted and locked – preventing subsequent users from either making changes to them, or even opening them at all. The innovative part comes in the choice of “lock” that one can place on the files. The traditional password is the first and most obvious choice; different passwords can be set up on a per-project basis to secure against “opening” or “changing” the project file.

Users can also utilize AVAware’s new cloud-based user accounts to create “locks” that are both secure and incredibly convenient to utilize. Project files can be safe-guarded against “unrecognized” users, by requiring that they “login” to AVAproject using their assigned cloud-based AVAware user credentials. Project files can also be locked, such that only users from the same company can open or change them. Even if an outside party – or a competitor – gets their hands on your project file... even if they have access to their own copy of AVAproject... even if they have a valid AVAware user account... they still can’t open the file because they don’t belong to the correct company group.

The great thing about this method of file locking – besides the obvious security benefit, is that is doesn’t create any additional steps for your co-workers. The lock is completely passive, and they don’t even need to know you set it.

This is only a small example of some of the new project security features that have been added to AVAproject in its most recent release. For additional information, please contact us.
