Adding Catalogs to the AVAware Library

Despite the ever-growing collection of catalogs offered in the AVAware library, AVAproject users and manufacturers alike are always interested in adding even more. AVAware offers several different ways in which additional product catalogs can be made available.

AVAware offers a massive library of architectural products catalogs designed to enhance the AVAproject detailing and estimating system by providing a wealth of essential product and pricing information. Many of these catalogs provide additional information beyond even the printed price books on which they're based, including technical details and catalog cuts.

The AVAware library offers an extensive range of popular manufacturer brands ranging from hollow metal and wood doors and frames, to hardware products in both divisions eight and ten. Despite the size of this ever-growing library, invariably users encounter manufacturers that are not represented. Typically these are regional or niche brands that appeal to a smaller number of users, and as such have not been incorporated into the collection.

For these users, there are essentially three options offered to allow them to see these products available to them as electronic catalogs.

User Hardware Catalogs

AVAproject provides a means for users to create their own catalogs for their own internal users. 'User Hardware Catalogs' is the name given to these user-created and maintained catalogs. Two such catalogs are made available in AVAproject; one for division-8 and another for division-10 products.

Users are provided a facility that allows them to create catalogs using a simplified version of the tool used by the AVAware catalog development team. Catalogs can be organized by brand or series, with products details including pricing and category designations, as well as applicable door and frame preparations.

User hardware catalogs are accessed and used in projects just as one would any other catalog provided in the AVAware library.

Companies with multiple user licenses are also given two additional "company-wide" user hardware catalogs in both division-8 and division-10. These catalogs are designed to be maintained by a designated user and shared throughout the company.

Custom Catalog Development

It's not uncommon for architectural product distributors to offer internal "house" brands or items they directly import or manufacture. Regional manufacturers frequently promote, specify and manufacture their own product lines and can benefit greatly from the automated estimating and quoting features offered by AVAproject.

For these situations, the AVAware Catalog Development team is available to create custom catalogs for user-specific product brands. Price books are quoted based on their printed counterparts, and development costs are determined based size and complexity.

Custom developed catalogs can be used exclusively by the company that commissioned them, or shared with any of their customers using the AVAproject system. For added convenience, catalogs can even be offered and updated through the AVAware catalog distribution system - along with all the other catalogs in the library.

Manufacturer Subsidized Catalog Development

Many of the more "niche" catalog offered in the AVAware library, have been created specifically at the request of our users. Users with specific requests for catalogs they wish to see added to the library for general release are encouraged to contact AVAware customer service.

As in the case of custom catalog development, price books are quoted based on their printed counterparts, and development costs are determined based size and complexity.

Manufacturers may, at their discretion, make catalogs available for general release to any AVAproject user or restrict access to approved distributors.

AVAproject users or manufacturers interested in seeing additional product catalogs made available through the AVAware library, are encouraged to contact AVAware customer service for assistance.
